Michael Meehan KC is a highly regarded Senior Counsel at the Criminal Bar. He has a broad range of expertise and has acted as prosecution and defence counsel in the High Court and in the Appeal Court.

Before calling at the Bar, Michael worked in the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and in private practice.

Michael was Lead Senior Advocate Depute (2019 to April 2023) overseeing health and safety cases, issuing instructions and providing guidance for a wide range of health and safety prosecutions and fatal accident inquiries.

Michael has made a significant contribution to law reform, as a member of the Criminal Law Committee of the Law Society of Scotland (2002 to 2006 and 2009 to 2017) and of the Faculty of Advocates Law Reform Committee (2012 to 2017).
