Fred Mackintosh KC
Fred Mackintosh KC is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh first in Geography and then law. He called to the Scottish bar in 2000 and was appointed King's Counsel in 2019. His particular specialism is public law, extradition and criminal appeals. He appears regularly in the most difficult and complex cases in the High Court of Justiciary Appeal Court and in 2023 was recognised as a Leading Silk (Tier 1) for Crime & Regulatory work by the Legal 500. Fred also has a wider judicial review and public law practice in the Court of Session.
From 2010 to 2017 Fred was a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Edinburgh University School, Centre for Professional Legal Studies. From 2013 to 2017 Fred was the Law Society of Scotland’s examiner for criminal and civil procedure and a member of the society's board of examiners. From 2013 to 2018 he was also a Fee-Paid Judge of the First Tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber) hearing benefit appeals - mainly in Edinburgh.
