The Scottish Hospitals Inquiry has commissioned a survey to find out how the delayed opening of the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and the Department of Clinical Neurosciences (RHCYP/DCN) in Edinburgh impacted on the care and wellbeing of patients and their families.
The survey is now open and will run till 14 May 2021. It is being run by Gatehouse ICS, a company that specialises in health research. The survey is anonymous and no personal identifying information will be shared with the Inquiry without respondents’ consent.

In the lead up to the September 2021 hearings, where the focus will be on listening to the experience of patients and families affected by the delayed opening, the Inquiry wants to gather as many views from those affected to ensure we have a clear picture of how and whether these delays impacted on issues such as patient safety and care.
The Inquiry is investigating issues related to the planning, design, construction, commissioning and, where appropriate, maintenance of the hospital. The Inquiry will look into how issues relating to the adequacy of the ventilation, water contamination and other matters adversely impacted on patient safety and care. We are also investigating how these issues affected the Queen Elizabeth University Campus Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow.
