History of Infection Concerns at the Glasgow hospital published
The Inquiry has published Provisional Position Paper 5 on the History of Infection Concerns at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow
The Inquiry wishes to emphasise that the History of Infection Concerns paper is not a narrative of proven facts, rather it sets out the Inquiry’s present understanding of the concerns over patient safety at QEUH that led to the setting up of the Inquiry and any evidence of further or ongoing concern beyond that point and provides a framework for further investigation.
The paper is only focussed on the events that have been raised indicating concerns about and the potential links between:
- The incidence of infections in the hospital
- The safety of water, drainage and ventilation systems
It was shared with core participants for their comment which are published alongside this paper. Some of the core participants’ comments go beyond the questions posed in the History of Infection Concerns paper. These will be considered separately. The Inquiry will investigate further should they be relevant to our remit.
Before reading this paper, please refer to the note by counsel to the Inquiry
Please also note, that a number of responses identified drafting errors, which have been corrected and are shown as tracked changes in the document.
