Hearings on Edinburgh hospital conclude
The Scottish Hospitals Inquiry has today concluded hearing the closing submissions regarding the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Edinburgh.
This was an opportunity for core participants to make final oral submissions following on from their written closing statements, which were in response to the evidence heard about the Edinburgh hospital over the last two years. Counsel to the Inquiry, John MacGregor KC and Ross McClelland ended the hearing with a final submission as to how the terms of reference of the Inquiry might be addressed.
Lord Brodie, Chair of the Inquiry, reminded those present and watching online that the Inquiry will be holding a further hearing starting on 19 August 2024, regarding the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. A list of issues and further information on the timetable will be available nearer the time.
Lord Brodie intends to publish an interim report later this year. Prior to that, the Inquiry may issue warning letters as provided for in the Inquiry (Scotland) Rules 2007.
